Dutch East Indiaman Bronstede bound for the Dutch East Indies in 1686

Fluyt/cat. Also called Bronstee. She left on 5 January Texel, Netherlands with as captain Jakob Barendsz Sonbeek, sailed via England, visited Cape of Good Hope, South Africa between 23 June-10 July 1686 and arrived at Batavia, Dutch East Indies on 10 October 1686. Lost on 21 August 1697 in the roads of Semarang, Dutch East Indies caused by leaking. Her crew numbered 34 (arrival)-37 (departure) sailors and further more 18 (arrival)-18 (departure) soldiers. Built at Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1685. Fitted this voyage out by the chamber Enkhuizen. Dimensions 100½ x 23-23½ x 11-11¾, Dutch measurement cargo capacity 136 last, measurement at Batavia, Dutch East Indies cargo capacity 110 last, measured 18 October 1690, dimensions 100’80” (prow) x 21’80” (inner hull) x 10’50”, length hold 64’35”, capacity hold gross 13799.96 cubic feet, net 12756.80¾ cubic feet and as tonnage 253 metric tons
