Dutch warship Zwarte Arend, also called Arent 1652-1654

Of the admiralty Amsterdam, hired from Jeremia van Collen 1652-1654, hire contract dated 3 April 1653, then 10 years old, fitted out at Venice with a new heavy ‘huytken’, monthly rental price ƒ 5000, appraised value, ƒ 33.500,, order of the admiralty to pay off 30 January 1654, dimensions (Amsterdam foot) 130 (prow) x 28½ (inner hull) x 13, height above 6½?, 28 (minimum number and a minimum calibre of 4/8pd)-30 (actually 6-12pd, 12-8pd, 10-4pd) guns, 100 men (contracted 75 experienced sailors, 20 experienced soldiers and 5 boys). Fitted out at Venice and in 1653 part of squadron commander Adriaen Roothaes in the Mediterranean, 19 February 1654 arrived the order of the admiralty (dated 30 January) to pay her off.
