East German guided missile vessel Sassnitz 1990-


Built in the former DDR as part of the Sassnitz--class or Balcom-10 class (project 151) as a replacement of the Osa-class. All 7 units were built at the Peenewerf, Wolgast, East Germany of which were built for Poland (the Orkan-class corvettes). Commissioned on 31 July 1990. Pennat 591 later P6165. Of the four East German boat were just three completed, the fourth was still uncompleted when the DDR was no longer existing. The Sassnitz was handed over to the coast guard squadron of the Marinekommandos Rostock, in 1993 rebuilt and transferred as the BG-22 Neustreltiz to the BGS (what became later the Bundespolizei; apparently in 2010 still in existence. Yard number 151.0. Displacement 369 tons and as dimensions 45 (waterline)-48,9 (over all) x 8,65 x 2,15-2,22 metres of 147.6-160.4 x 28.5 x 7.2 feet. Fitted out with 3diesel engines and 3 screws and with a total horsepower of 11.910 kW a speed of 37 knots. Range with a speed of 20 knots was 2.200 nautical miles. Crew numbered 33-34 men. The armament consisted of 1-7, 62cm gun, 1-6 barrels 3cm Flak machinegun, missile launchers and 2-16 tubed Chaff launchers.
