Dutch screw steamship 4th class Berkel stationed in the waters of Celebes, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 30 November 1864

An item dated referred to tidings dated 15 October dealing with the movements of the Dutch squadron in the Dutch East Indies reported that the Dutch screw steamship 4th class Berkel lieutenant 1st class A.A. ‘s Graeuwen was stationed in the waters of Celebes, Dutch East Indies arrived on 24 September from Macassar, Dutch East Indies at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies to be repaired.(1)

1. Screw steamship 4th class, also called screw steam schooner, on stocks at the shipyard of G.W. Uit den Bogaert, Maassluis in 1865, launched on 16 June 1860, commissioned on 10 January 1861, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 19-23 April, sold at the navy establishment at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies on Saturday 6 May 1865, dimensions 38,00m-40,70m (over all) x 8,16 3,20 metres, a 586 tons displacement, an armament of 6 guns (2 medium 30pd guns, 4-30pd carronades), a crew numbering 75 men, 80 npk/2oo epk horsepower, 6-7knots speed.
