Designed by the Italian Caproni company and designed by the aviation pioneer Gianni Caproni (3 July 1886 Massone d’Arco, Austria-Hungary-27 October 1957 Rome, Italy). The sources dealing with first flight supplied different data namely 12 February or 2 March 1921 above the Lake Maggiore. The second flight was disastrous as the plane crashed on 4 March 1921. She was never rebuilt due to the excessive costs needed. There is just one example of this 23,25 metres or 77 feet long nine-wing flying boat also known as Noviplano or Capronissimo ever built. Wingspan of each wing was 30 metres or 98.5 feet resulting with nine wings a total wing area of 750,00 square metres or 8.073 square feet. Height from bottom of hull to the top of the wings was 9,15 metres or 30 feet. Weight 14.000 kg (empty)-26.000 (maximum takeoff) kg. Fitted out with 2x4-400hp American built Liberty L-12 V12 engines, totally 3.200 hp allowing a cruise speed of 130 kilometres and a range of 360 nautical miles. Her crew numbered 8 persons and she was able to accommodate 100 passengers.
