American chief Bureau of Engineering Bowen claimed less weight of boilers and turbines for battleships according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 no. 4

An item reported that rear admiral Harold G. Bowen announced that the new high pressure boilers and turbines made it possible to decrease the weight of the battleships with 400 ton with a result an increase of the speed with 1,5 knots or one extra 40,6cm gun or to improve the protection.(1)
