Of the Erzherzog Karl-class consisting of the Erzherzog Ferdinand Max, Erzherzog Karl and Erzherzog Friedrich, preceded by the Habsburg-class and succeeded by the Radetzky-class. Laid down at the Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino shipyards, Trieste, Italy on 4 October 1902, launched on 30 April 1904, completed on 31 January 1907, ceded to France as war reparation in 1920 and finally broken up in 1921.

General technical class specifications. A displacement of 10.640 tons/10.472 long tons and as dimensions 126,2 x 21,8 x 7,5 metres or 414.2 x 71.5 x 24.7 feet. Fitted out with 4 cylinder vertical triple steam engines supplied via 2 shafts 18.000 ihp allowing a speed of 20.5 knots. Their crew numbered 700 men. The armour consisted of a 21cm/8.3” thick waterline belt, 20cm/7.9” thick bulkheads, a deck of 5,5cm/2.2” thickness with gun turrets, casemates and conning tower protected by respectively 24cm/9.4”, 15cm/5.9” and 22cm/8.7” thick armour. The armament consisted of 2x2-24cm/9.4” 40 cal Skoda guns, 12x1-19cm/7.5” 42 cal Skoda guns, 12-6,6cm/2.6’ 45 cal Skoda guns, 4-4.7cm/1.9” 44 cal Skoda quick firing guns, 4-3,7cm/1.5” Vickers anti aircraft guns and 2-45cm/17.7” surfaced torpedo tubes.
