Building ordered in January 1938. Launched at the shipyard of P. Smit Jr., Rotterdam, Netherlands [N.V. Mavhinefabriek en scheepswerf] with yard number 517 on 4 March 1939, delivered on 29 July 1939, taken over by the War Shipping Administration on 23 February 1942, used by the US Army Transportation Corps as the troop transport USAT Klipfontein in time charter ending 1 February 1946, used for passage towards New Guinea and the Philippines and finally sunk off Ponta Zavora, Mozambique when she struck the wreck of a sunk German submarine on 8 January 1953.
