Japanese forces captured German auxiliary cruiser at Tsingato, China according to the Dutch newspaper Haagschecourant dated 16 October 1914

An item reported that Japanese forces entering the German colony at Tsingtao, China found 2 German auxiliary cruisers, one was scuttled by her own crew, the other captured.(1)

1. Tsingtau or Tsingtao was the so-called Kiautschou Bay concession given by the Chine government to the German government and in German control between 1897 and 1914. Nowadays known as Qingdao. Captured after a siege of 3 months by Japan on 7 November 1914.
