Schiffbau dated 27 August 1924 no. 22 reporting that the lifespan of a destroyer was 12 years and that for a British destroyer a year in wartime was equal to two years in peacetime so that on 1 June 1924 the United Kingdom had 197, the USA 279 and Japan 74 destroyers. As a result of the building programs going on were the figures on 1 April 1929 respectively 119, 262 and 82.
