New American 35.000 tons battleships to be armed with 40,6cm guns according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 6

An item referred to the magazine M.R. dated September 1935 reporting that the new American battleships had a displacement of 35.000 tons and as main armament 40,6cm guns. Electric welding was to be applied on large scale and with the use of light metals and modern high pressure boilers became it possible to increase the weight of the armour with around 2.000 tons compared with the battleships of the past under the condition that the maximum speed was not too pass far over the 21 knots.
