Newly built German torpedo boats to be fitted out with reciprocating machinery instead of turbines according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1906-1907 No.4

An item referred to the Mitteilingen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens reporting that the coal consumption of the German torpedo boat S 125 was much higher and with less speed as other torpedo boats of the same design but which were fitted out with piston or reciprocating engines. As a result of this failure was decided to fit the new to built torpedo boats with reciprocating machinery.
