Swedish fleet to small for sufficient coastal defence according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1895 nr. 11

An item referred to the Times which reported that as result of the Norwegian intention to strengthen the navy Sweden investigated what was needed to prevent a landing on the Swedish coast. For this purpose were 15 armoured ships, 30 torpedo boats 1st class, 20 torpedo boats 2nd class and 6 avisos or destroyers needed. Available was just 4 armoured ships, 6 torpedo boats 1st class, 9 torpedo boats 2nd class and several gunboats of old types.
