Delaware-class battleships of which the Florida-class was a slightly enlarged type

An item referred to the magazine Schiffbau reporting that in USA was investigated if a 14.600 ton armoured cruiser (1) was to be fitted out with turbines. Further more asked the Bureau of Construction of the US Navy companies to send tenders for turbines to be used in the two new battleships.(2)

Notes
1. The Tennessee-class of armoured cruisers built between 1903-1906 had a displacement of 14.730 tons standard, but all four ships were fitted out with triple expansion steam engines.
2. Probably the Florida-class consisting of the Florida and the Utah built launched in 1909-1910.
