An item reported that the US cabinet officially announced that in December 16 battleships were sent to the Strait of Magellan, San Francisco and the Puget Sound. Furthermore were torpedo boats sent to the same destinations although not as escorts of the battleships. A second item dated Washington, USA 25th reported that president Roosevelt had at Oysterbay a meeting with naval authorities dealing with sending those battleships towards the Pacific.
