British battleship HMS Commonwealth heavily damaged when she was grounded according to the Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 29 August 1907

An item dated London, England 28th August reported that the British battleship HMS Commonwealth while entering the harbour of Lamlash grounded. After she was refloated she steamed to Devonport, England seriously leaking. The hull plates were badly damaged.(1)

Building ordered under the 1903 naval programme, laid down by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Govan, Scotland on 17 June 1902, launched on 13 May 1903, completed in March 1905, commissioned on 9 May 1905, decommissioned in February 1921 and sold to be broken up on 18 November 1921.
