German fast attack craft Gepard (P6121) 1979-

Ordered in 1978 from AEG-Telefunken. Of the Gepard-class Type 143A, preceded by the Albatros-class. Totally 10 built. NATO pennant P6121 and German pennant S 71. Call sign DRCE. Laid down at the Lürssen Werft on 11 July 1979, launched on 25 September 1981, commissioned on 7/15 December 1982, decommissioned on 12 December 2014. Displacement 390 tons and as dimensions 57,6 x 7,8 x 2,6 metres or 189 x 25.7 x 8.6 feet. Machinery consisted of 4 diesels with total horsepower of 17.748hp/13.235kW allowing a speed of 40 knots. Crew numbered 37 men (included 5 officers). Armament consisted of 1-7,6cm Otobreda gun, 4-MM38 Exocet anti-ship missiles, 1-21 cells GDC RAM launcher and 2x1-12,7mm/0.50“-MG50-1 machineguns. Suitable for mine laying (2 mine rails).
