Steam barge of American battleship USS Minnesota sunk according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 14 June 1907

Connecticut-class

An item dated Washington, USA 13th reported that when the American battleship USS Minnesota was at Jamestown for the exhibition, a passing steamship over run her steam barge with as result that 5 midshipmen and 5 sailors were missing.(1)

1. Connecticut-class consisting Connecticut, Louisiana, Kansas, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Vermont, preceded by the Virginia-class and succeeded by the Mississippi-class. Laid down by Newport News Shipbuilding Company on 27 October 1903, launched by Rose Marie Schaller on 8 April 1905, commissioned on 9 March 1907, decommissioned on 1 December 1921, stricken on 1 December 1921, sold to be broken up on 23 January 1924 which was executed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
