New British destroyers weaker as French flotilla leaders according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1934 no. 7

An item referred to the N.M.R. dated 4 October 1934 reporting that the British F-class destroyers now under construction were in fact mini cruisers. It would be sensible if the Admiralty decided to increase their displacement making these ships more suitable to act as convoy escort vessels. Further more was their armament of 4-12cm/4.7” guns, 1-7,5cm/2.9” anti aircraft gun and 6 smaller calibre guns was to weak to act with success against the French flotilla leaders. The F-class had a minimum speed of 36 miles and a range of 6.000 nautical miles.
