Strength test for French built Greek submarine Xifias according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 6

An item reported that in the roads of Toulon, France the for Greek account being built submarine Xiphias (1) in the salvage dock for submarines was tested. She was lowered to a depth of 36 metres without permanent changes of the hull shape. The magazine Moniteur de la Flotte suggested that the French navy would start with strength tests of her own submarines.

1. Or Xifias, together with her sister ship Delfin was the building at Schneider Shipyards, Toulon ordered in September 1910, launched in 1913 and handed over in March 1913, seized by France in1916, given back in 1919 but in such a worse condition that both boats were decommissioned.
