US Navy testing new types of torpedoes according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1911-1912 no. 7

An item reported that the US Navy was testing two types of torpedoes to be used on board of battleships. One 53,3cm torpedo had a length of 6,40 metres, range of 9,140 kilometres and a speed of around 28 miles. The other of 45,7cm had a range pf 8,229 metres. There was also a new torpedo to be used on board of destroyers, torpedo boats and submarines tested. It had the same dimensions as the types already on board used but now with a range of 9,140 kilometres. Submarines were to carry 12 of this type with them.
