British river gunboat Ladybird bombed by Japanese according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 7 December 1937


An item reported that the British river gunboat Ladybird (1) on the Yangtze river was hit by Japanese bomb fragments.(2) Her master H.D. Barlow was wounded in his thigh.

1. Of the Insect-class, launched by Lobnitz on 12 April 1916 and sunk when acting as anti-aircraft battery in shallow water on 12 May 1941.
2. Japan and China were in war between 7 July 1937-9 September 1945.
