The Turkish torpedo cruiser Peit-i-Shevket according to the magazine The Engineer dated 20 December 1907


An item supplied except for a nice photo some technical details of the two new Turkish gunboats/torpedo cruisers Peit-i-Shevket (1) and Berc-i-Satvet (2), built by Friedrich Krupp’s A.G. Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany in end 1906 and delivered in October 1907. There were built on base of an improved design of the aged torpedo gunboats Pelenk-i-Deria and Namet. With a displacement of around 740 (normal load) tons and as dimensions 262 x 27.6¾ z 8.2¾ feet. Coal bunker capacity 240 tons. During the successful trials was the achieved speed 23 knots in stead of the contracted 22  knots. The armament consisted of 2-10,5cm/4” Krupp guns, 6-5,7cm/2.25” Krupp guns, 2-3,7cm/1.5” Krupp guns, 5 Hotchkiss quick firing guns and 3-18”/21” torpedo tubes (1x bow, 2x1 each broadside on deck).
