British scout cruiser HMS Fearless 1911-1921


Part of the Active-class scout cruisers, consisting of the Active, Fearless and Amphion, preceded by the Blonde-class. Designed to support destroyers flotillas bu became outdated due to the increasing speeds of destroyers. Laid down by Pembroke Dockyard, England on 15 November 1911, launched on 12 June 1912, commissioned in October 1913, depot ship for submarines since 1916, sunk in a collision the British submarine K 17 on 31 January 1918 and sold to be broken up on 8 November 1921.

Displacement 3.390 (normal)-4.008 (deep load) tons and as dimensions 123,4 (over all) x 12,5 x 4,4 metres or 405 x 41 x 14.6 feet. Machinery consisted of 2 Parsons turbine steam sets and 12 Yarrow boilers delivering via 4 shafts 18.000shp allowing a speed of 25 knots. With a speed of 10 knots was her range 4.630 nautical miles. Armour consisted of a 1,3cm/0.5”-2,5cm/1” thick curved protective deck with the conning tower protected by 10,2cm/4” thick armour. The armament consisted of 10x1-10,2cm/4” breech loading guns, 4x1-4,7cm/1.9”/3pd quick firing guns and 2x1-45cm/18” torpedo tubes.
