Japanese destroyer Akatsuki executed her trials according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1901-1902 no. 10

An item reported that the Japanese destroyer Akatsuki of 360 tons, 6.500 ihp horsepower and a speed of 30 miles was in the meantime launched, beginning her trials on 21 November which were very satisfying.(1)

1. Of the Akatsuki-class ordered under the 1897 fiscal budget, consisting of the Akatsuki and Kasumi preceded by the Murakumo-class and succeeded by the Shrirakumo-class. Laid down by Yarrow Shipbuilders, Clyde, England on 10 December 1900, launched on 13 February 1901, completed on 14 December 1901, struck a mine off Port Arthur on 17 May 1904 and written off on 19 October 1905.
