Yugoslavian navy desired extensive torpedo boat building program according to a CIA report dated 17 November 1949

An item referred to the plans of marshal Tito (1) for rebuilding the fleet needed for defending the Adriatic coastline. While the Soviet Union no longer supplied submarine parts to be assembled by Yugoslavian shipyards it was needed to built torpedo boats and pocket submarines entirely from the own resources. The planning was to produce against the end of 1952 92 torpedo boats of the MAS type under the project program article 147.
