Large number of Polish barges active in the gravel transport on the Oder according to a CIA report dated 22 November 1950

An item reported that except for the vessels operated by the Polish Oder Navigation Company another 60 Polis barges with a varying capacity of 100-350 tons had as homeport Szcecin, towed by tugs belonging to this city  and which were used for gravel transport dredged out of the riverbed of the Oder near Bielinek. The gravel was needed for reconstructing Szcezecin. The barges were marked with Odra-Szczecin in white letters on a red background.
