An item dealing with the Russian merchant fleet active on the Rumanian part of the river Danube mentioned the Russian tug Sarata built in August 1947 by Skoda, Komarom, Czechoslovakia [nowadays Slovakia] with a displacement of 200 tons. Her oil fuelled engines supplied 1.600hp allowing a speed of 5 knots with a tow of 20 loaded barges going upstream. She had one sister ship built by the same shipyard in 1947 and both tugs served in the rapids of the river between the positions 945 and 1.016 kilometres.
