East German shipyards building sea going tugs for the Soviet Union according to a CIA report dated 24 June 1952

An item reported that the intention to built Amanda-type 1.000 ton tugs in East Germany was cancelled but now ordered to built 350 hp steam sea going tugs for the Soviet Union. The choice for steam engine was forced by the lacking of diesel oil in East Germany. The boilers were briquettes instead of hard coal fuelled and to the be built by EKM, Euebiga with the engines probably by WUMAG, Goerlitz.

An item reported the building of 3 seagoing tugs at Rosslau, East Germany for account of the GSD) General Shipping Administration. The tugs were to be fitted out with the 44 series 500hp diesel engines still under production and of which the first were to be delivered to Poland.
