Moscow shipyard building new type of diesel tugs according to a CIA report dated 24 October 1949

An item referred to the Moskovskiy ‘No. 172 dated 23 May reporting that at the Moscow shipyard two diesel tugs of new design were  built. Their draught was just 0,80 centimetres. It was possible to transport such a tug by railroad form one to another river basin without the necessity to dismantle the tug. A second item published in the Vechernyaya Moskva No. 182 dated 2 August also referred to the draught mentioning that the tugs could operate in waters not deeper as minus 1,00 meter. The tugs suitable for the floating timber were to be used on the Siberian and Central Asian rivers and tributaries of the Volga, Severnaya Dvina and the Zapadnaya Dvina. Already were five tugs completed and to be transported by railroad to the Yenisey Fleet.
