France ordered building of new type destroyers according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1904 no. 10

An item reported that at le Havre, France two destroyers were to be built and to be delivered at Cherbourg, France for executing their trials. It was of a new design and larger as the predecessors. Displacement 350 ton with a length of 58 metres against the 306-307 tons of the predecessors, horsepower 7.200ihp and a speed of 30 knots.
