Latvian Riga Ship Repair and Shipbuilding Yard (Zavod)built in 1946-1947 the Soviet motor tugs Gvardeets and Partizan according to a CIA report dated 3 January 1954

An item dealing with so-called stockpiling within the Soviet Union merchant fleet especially the Reydtanker Steamship Company reported the building by the Riga Ship Repair and Shipbuilding Yard (Zavod) in the single screw 500hp motor tugs Gvardeets and Partizan between 1946-1947. Except for the wheelhouse were hull and superstructures made of steel.. On the spardeck were 2 foundations for installing anti aircraft machineguns/3,7cm guns available. The concept of stockpiling was that times of war the tugs within short notice could wholly/partially serve as military transport/auxiliary vessel without needing specially additional refitting.
