Portuguese frigate Dom Fernando II e Glória 1843-

Ordered to be built in 1824 although not earlier launched as on 22 October 1843 at the Royal Naval Arsenal, Damão, Portuguese India and departed on 2 February 1845 Goa arriving on 4th July at Lisbon, Portugal. Burned on 3 April 1963 and what was left was towed to a place along the Tagus to prevent that the shipping was disturbed. The wreck was on 22 January 1992 brought to the Arsenal of Alfeite and in 1992 to the Ria-Marine shipyards at Aveiro and there restored. On 27 April reinstalled in the navy as an auxiliary ship and the same year handed over to the Naval Museum.

Dimensions 87 x 13 x 6,4 metres or 284 x 32 x 21 feet and a displacement of 1.849,16 tons. 4-Decker. Armament consisted of 50 guns gundeck 28-19pd gun, deck 20-32pd carronades and forecastle 2-12pd bow chasers). Sail area 2.052,2 square metres/22.190 square feet. Crew numbered 146-379 men and 270 passengers.
