Russian passenger ship Kiev active on the Danube according to a CIA report dated 17 May 1948

An item reported that on the Danube mainly for passenger transporting the Russian sidewheel paddle steamship Kiev (ex-Romanian Ismail) served, with a displacement of around 250 ton, an oil fuelled 600hp engine and a speed of around 20 kilometres. The passenger accommodation consisted of 40 cabins and totally she was able to take 1.200 passengers at once with her. Her crew numbered around 30 men. Her master was the 35 years old Russian Sokol Lisvinovic coming from Odessa [Ukraine] and serving on her since 1947. Before he was active as inspector at Braila.
