An item reported that in March 1948 the Soviet Danube fleet consisted of around 20 large and around 40 small, the latter mainly corvette types. The large ship included the monitors Kertch and Rostov and the flagship Matsin, based at stationed at Ismail and which belonged in the past to Romania. When the Matsin was in active service had she an escort of 5-6 corvettes.
The corvettes had as dimensions around 20 x 4 metres, a total height of 2 metres and a height of just 0,80 metres above the surface. Mainly were they used for patrolling between Bulcov/Canal Ismail and the mouth of the Prut river altogether 160 kilometres although sometimes were boats sent even further to the north. Not named but just numbered between the range 1-96. The armament consisted of 1-4 barrelled 2,2cm gun (suitable for aircraft defence) forward. The steal made armour had a thickness of 0,4cm. The crew numbered 12 men commanded by a lieutenant assisted by a non-commissioned officer. Upstream speed of around 25 kilometres.
