Russian screw steamship Kherson according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1896 no. 8

Part of the Russian Voluntary Fleet. Dimensions 139 (between perpendiculars)-150 (over all) x 16,5 x 73, metres. Displacement 10.225 tons. Horsepower 13.307 ihp. Speed 19,5-19,6 (medium during 12 hours trial full speed natural draft) knots. Steel-built. Launched in 1895. Cargo capacity 2.818 tons or 1.574 men. Armament consisted of 3-12cm quick firing guns, 12-7,5cm quick firing guns and 8-4,7cm guns; guns and ammunition stored at Odessa until needed. Sister ships Saratov and Petersburg. Three funnels, bark schooner rigging. Trials on 16 May executed. Built by Messrs. Hawthorn, Leslie&Co. Fitted out with 24 Belleville boilers manufactured by Messrs. Maudslay Sons and Field.(1)

1. Renamed Lena in 1903, retained her original name in 1906, renamed Raetoria as British property in 1920 and broken up in 1924.
