Mexican navy training ship Cuauhtémoc 1982-

Mexico-flagged, homeport Acapulco, IMO 8107505, MMSI 345186001 and call sign VBE01. Launched by Astilleros Celaya S.A., Bilbao, Spain on 9 January 1982 and commissioned on 29 July 1982. Part of a class of 4 ships consisting of the Gloria of Columbia, Guayas of Ecuador, Simón Bolivar of Venezula and the Cuauhtémoc of Mexico. This class is based on the 1930s designs of the German shipyard Blohm&Voss at Hamburg for building for instance the Horst Wessel (nowadays the USS coastguard Eagle) and the Albert Leo Schlageter (the still existing Portuguese NRP Sagres.

Steel built. Displacement 1.800 tons and as dimensions 67,16 x 11,99 x 5,4 metres or 220.4 x 39.4 x 17.7 feet. Barque-rigged with a sail area of 2.368 square metres/25.489 square feet. Fitted out with 1-1.125 hp/839 kW auxiliary engine. Crew numbers 276 persons including 90 trainees.
