Dutch Greenland whalers arriving on the river Maas, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Oprechte Haerlemsche courant dated 8 September 1704

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 6th referred to tidings received from the river Maas reporting that the day before coming from Greenland on the Maze arrived the Dutch commandeurs Gerbrand van de Velde 10 whales, Jan Dirksze van de Velde 1 whale, Pieter Dirkze 3 whales, Pieter Pieterse 8 whales, Braazem 6 whales, Jacob Kasperse 10 whales, Ary Pot 4 whales, Pieter Goude 4 whales and in the Vlie the Witte Olifant with 3 whales. All whalers had been harassed by much fog and the catches were worse until the first half of July., Afterwards the catchh improved when in the east the ice opened.
