Japanese cargo ship (ex-Le Quesnoy 1918-1922, Tencho Maru 1922-1938, Haitosen 1938-1939 and 1941) Tencho Maru 1943-1945


Official number 28551. Call sign JHGA. Gross tonnage 2.608 tons, tonnage under deck 2.226 tons, net tonnage 1.561 tons and as dimensions 251.0 x 43.7 x 26.0 x 28.3 (moulded depth) feet. Laid down by Dominion Shipbuilding Co., Toronto, Canada in end 1918 and launched in May 1919. Owned by the Nova Scotia Transportation Co. Ltd, Toronto, Canada. Owned by Tatsuuma Kisen KK, Nishinomaya, Japan. As the Haitosen possessed b by the navy between 22 September 1938-end 1939, again March-14 August 1941 and 14 December 1942 as the IJA 859 became she the Tencho Maru (also known as Tentyo Maru) and used as troop transport. Torpedoed by the British submarine HMS Tiptoe near Billiton Island on 3 August 1945.
