Dutch government stated Portuguese former German merchant ships not welcome in Dutch harbours according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 24 July 1916
An item reported that the German merchant ships seized by the Portuguese government were not to allowed to enter Dutch harbours because the seizure caused an international conflict.
