British fleet mine sweeper HMS Harrier (J71) 1933-1950

Of the Halcyon-class, preceded by Racecourse-class and succeeded by Bangor-class. Building ordered on 23 February 1933, laid down by John I. Thornycroft&Company, Woolston, England on 11 July 1933, launched on 17 April 1934, completed on 9 November 1934 and sold to be broken up n 6 June 1950. General class details were a displacement of 815 (standard)-1.370 (full load) tons and as dimensions 74,90 (over all) x 10,21 x 2,7 metres or 245.9 x 33.6 x 9 feet. Fitted out with oil-fuelled vertical compound steam reciprocating machines and 2 Admiralty 3-drum water tube boilers supplying via 2 shafts 1.770 ihp allowing a speed of around 16,5 knots and with 10 knots a range of 7.200 nautical miles. Crew numbered 80 men. Armament consisted of 210,2cm/4” quick firing Ml. V cal 45 guns, 1-CP Mk. II mounting, 1 Ha. Mk. II mounting and 8 7.7mm/.303” Lewis machine guns.
