Dutch minesweeper Hr.Ms. Abraham Crijnssen (1936)

On stocks at the yard Gusto at Schiedam, Netherlands 21 March 1936, launched 23 September 1936 and commissioned 27 May 1937. Destined for service in the Dutch East Indies. Displacement 460 tons and dimensions 55,80 x 7,80 x 2,20m. Her engines from Stork, Hengelo, Netherlands delivered 1.600 ihp allowing a speed of 15 miles. Her crew numbered 45 men. She was armed with 1-7.5cm gun and 4-12.7mm machine guns. Survived the Japanese attack on the Dutch East Indies while camouflaged as an island covered trees reaching Geraldton, Australia on 15 March 1942. Served in the Second World war at Australia for instance as training ship for the anti submarine training. Returned in 1945 in the Dutch East Indies and fitted out as a patrol vessel. Since 1949 again minesweeper. After her return in the Netherlands as a so-called ‘netpoort’vessel rearmed with 2-20mm machine guns and with a crew of 20 men. Pennant MV 1, M 801 and at last A 925. Nowadays museum ship at Den Helder, Netherlands.
