American and French warships cruising for returning British whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche courant dated 29 July 1780

An item referred to a letter written at Shetland 28 June reporting that 3 frigates of each 32 guns and 3 sloops each of 18 guns of French an American nationality were cruising there since 25 March waiting to capture the whalers returning from Greenland and Davis Strait.
