Wireless operators of Bulgarian merchant ships Ferdinand and Bulgaria arrested according to the Dutch newspaper Dagblad van Noord-Bravant dated 28 January 1932

An item reported that recently the Bulgarian police arrested the wireless operators of the Bulgarian ships Ferdinand and Bulgaria. An investigation pointed to a continuous wireless traffic between Bulgaria and 5 stations in the Soviet Union. This was against the Bulgarian law. Both men used the devices of their ships and admitted that they sent information to OGPU [Gosoedarstvennoje Polititsjeskoje Oepravlenije=secret police organization] agents at Constantinople from which they received a code for this purpose. Since months were details about important events in Bulgaria sent to Odessa, Ukraine. From there they received instructions to sent to the Bulgarian communist party. Further more were wireless operators of post offices at Burgas, Varna and Roetsjoek for sending messages to their colleagues on board of both ships.
