Former Canadian Flower-class corvette HMCS Moncton (K139), building ordered on 24 January 1940, laid down by Saint John Drydock and Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Saint John, New Brunswick op 17 December 1940, launched on 11 Augusts 1941, commissioned on 24 April 1942, decommissioned on 12 December 1945, sold, converted into the Dutch whale catcher Willem Vinke (AM21) and broken up by Recurparciones Submarinas S.A. at Santander, Spain in September 1966. Specifications as corvette. Displacement 940 tons and as dimensions 62,48 (over all) x 10,06 x 3,51 metres or 205 x 33 x 11.5 feet. The machinery consisted of 1 4 cylinder triple expansion reciprocating steam engine and 2 fire tube Scotch boilers supplying 2.750 ihp allowing a speed of 16 knots and a range of 3.500 nautical miles with 12 knots. Crew numbered 85 men. Armament consisted of 1-10,2cm/4” Mk.IX gun, 1x2-12,7mm/0.50” machine guns, 1x2-.303 Lew is machine guns, 2 Mk. II depth charge throwers. 2 depth charge rails with 40 depth charges. The minesweeper gear was in a later stadium removed. Part of the fleet of the Nederlandsche Maatschappij voor de Walvischvaart.
