Ships used in the trawl fishery needed engines with a horsepower between 300-800 hp. After 1945 were trawlers taken into service of 31-50 x 6,28-8,52 metres. Before 1965 was fished alongside the so-called side trawlers, fitted out with so-called usually at starboard a derrick, some times at both sides and on deck before the pilothouse a heavy winch.
