German Greenland commandeurs returning at Hamburg, Germany to the Dutch newspaper Utrechtse courant dated 22 July 1793

An item reported the arrival at Hamburg, Germany of the German commandeurs C. Jurgens 0,5 whale 24 quardelen 8 quardelen seal blubber, J.M. Leest 0,5 whale 8 quardelen seal blubber, P. Tayholm 7 quardelen seal blubber and C. Andriessen 10 quardelen seal blubber, all returning from Greenland leaving the ice on 26 and 27 July. The ice was at that moment very small. They brought with them a list of commandeur M. Dirksen of 11 June stating that the Dutch whalers catches just 7-8 whales and the whalers of Bremen just one. The British whalers on the contrary had almost immediately good catch results.
