Catch results of Dutch and German Greenland whalers disappointing according to the Dutch newspaper Leydse courant dated 11 August 1723

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 9 August reported the arrival of Broer Ryker at Hamburg, Germany with a catch of 8-9 barrels seal blubber. He left Greenland on 17 July. He brought with him a list according to which the catches of the Dutch whalers was not of hardly improved. Despite the well conditions was the total catch of the Greenland whalers from Hamburg just 12,5 whale en of the ones from Bremen just 6,5 whale included the 3 already shipped to Bremen. According to rumors were the ships of Laurens Verbeek and Aris uyt de Woude lost.
