Spanish galleon St. Nicolas de Barry disappeared off Madeira according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamse courant dated 21 October 1769

An item dated Cadiz, Spain 22 September reported that according to tidings the Spanish galleon St. Nicolas de Barry arrived at Madeira and a British packet was sent to her. When the packet returned in the evening of 19 October it became clear that she did not saw the galleon and everybody feared for her fate. The edition dated 14 September reported that a large galleon returning from the Americas lacking sailors and stores arrived at Madeira in a very worse condition. Immediately was a British ship sent towards to support her.
