In his report dated Nikolajev, Ukraine 27 July 1943 informed captain W. Wilstermann of the R.K.S. the authorities responsible for the German sea shipping activities in the Black Sea about the wrecks to be found in his field. Near the island Pormeisk was the beached tanker barge Comos VIII with a load capacity of 950 tons and which should be worth to be salvaged. The beached wrecks were considered to be robbed of everything just like the beached vessels on the Djnepr. There was everything of wood including the bottom coating and the complete machinery taken away.
Note
1. Between 22 June 1941 and 10 November 1944 was the Soviet republic Ukraine more or less controlled by the German Reichskomissariat after she was conquered by Germany. The Soviets destroyed harbour facilities, scuttled ships and so on when the Germans invaded Ukraine.
